Drugs in our drinking water may sound unbelievable but you can believe it.  Tap water has been found to contain traces of antibiotics, sex hormones, anti-convulsive medications and even sedatives.  I am not talking about some third world country.  I talking about what researchers have found: a multitude of drugs in US drinking water. What is the Source of Drugs in the Water No one is sure how long there have been drugs in our drinking water, because until lately nobody thought to test for them.  The drugs make their way into the water supply through runoff from pharmaceutical plants and other methods, but the primary source is actually through human waste.   When you take a pill, only a small amount is absorbed and metabolized by the body.  Much of each pill goes through your digestive system and passes from the body as waste.  While it goes through treatment plants, the chlorine and filters these plants use to not remove or destroy pharmaceutical substances.
